Chicken Marsala is a classic Italian-American dish that’s all about tender chicken breasts swimming in a rich, savory sauce made with Marsala wine and mushrooms. It's a dish that effortlessly elevates any meal, bringing a touch of elegance with every bite. Ready to make your taste buds sing?

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Place 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound them to about 1/2-inch thickness. Season both sides with salt and pepper. Dredge the chicken lightly in 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour, shaking off any excess.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
  3. In the same skillet, melt another 1 tablespoon of butter. Add 8 ounces of sliced cremini mushrooms and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are browned and have released their moisture.
  4. Add 2 minced garlic cloves to the skillet and sauté for about 30 seconds, until fragrant. Pour in 3/4 cup of Marsala wine and 1/2 cup of chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, or until the sauce has reduced by half.
  5. Stir in 1/4 cup of heavy cream and 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh parsley. Return the chicken breasts to the skillet and simmer for another 3-4 minutes, spooning the sauce over the chicken, until heated through and coated with the sauce.
  6. Plate the chicken breasts and spoon the mushroom Marsala sauce over the top. Garnish with extra fresh parsley if desired. Serve hot with a side of mashed potatoes, pasta, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
